About
As a Dean list student at Auburn University. Jan Martin Curry is pursuing a degree in Fine Arts. In her education, she has participated in several collaborative projects, highlighting her ability to work with others and contribute to Auburn’s art community. She has developed a theme in her work inspired by her childhood pet bunny “Esther” which is deeply connected to her past and present identity as a woman. This is exemplified in her painting “I Am A Real Bunny” where she has combined elements of realism and abstract to show how Esther has shaped my perception.
Jan Martin‘s painting “Coney Island” was recognized as an Honorable Mention in the Auburn University student juried exhibition. This artwork focuses on her interest in invoking childlike creativity. She is able to put this concept into practice at her job at Lee County Youth Development Center, where she supplies underprivileged girls with creative outlets. This experience has intensified her desire to pursue a career in art therapy so she can continue to share her passion for art with young minds in order to cultivate growth.
